Shadrach's Ex Battery and Rescued chickens thread.

Good job, chicks! It would seem that their Roost Manager is deserving of some Polish cake as a reward for keeping such late hours?
Why not. According to one study after another, some forever chemical or bits of plastic are already in the food chain and I expect we've been eating similar for many years now. I bit of Polish cake won't kill me if the bad stuff hasn't already.:p
I need to go to a dentist. I've got a raging sweet tooth that needs taking out.

Wow that's really late to bed... I'm in the uk to although on the east coast and the sun sets earlier here... but my hens have gone into coop by 8.30pm latest. The chicks shortly after by always by 9pm. The hens have the same auto door you have and it's set at 9.30pm. And 5.30am
I had the auto door set at 9.30 like yourself but while the juveniles mess about at roosting time it needs to be 10pm.
It was pretty late by the time I had cooked and eaten.

Hmmm I suppose taking a sandwich to the allotment won't work because you'll give it to the chickens as a treat.

I do take food to eat most days but it's usually gone by 6pm and when another four hours or more have gone by I'm hungry again.
I like to eat a proper cooked meal at least twice a day.

Three rather damp hours this morning. Went home and went back later knowing it was going to be raining some, and maybe a lot, late afternoon and evening. Luckily the worst of it didn't arrive until around midnight.
I just didn't have the patience or inclination to stand around in the rain as it got dark waiting for a bunch of juveniles to go to bed. I just wanted them in and safe as quickly as possible. I loaded them. It all went surprisingly smoothly. :D

Hmm, somehow Polish Plastic Chemical Cake does lack some of it's initial appeal. Having once eaten some rum cake in the Bahamas that rapidly increased overall temp & facial bloodflow, perhaps cakes are best avoided as are unscheduled dental visits 😉

We had a potluck at the medical practice that I worked for in New Mexico, I scratch baked a huge Irish Whiskey cake with Bailey's Irish Cream frosting. I did think far enough ahead that most of the alcohol properties in the cake would be cooked off, but that frosting sure packed a punch..lol There were no leftovers to bring home, and everyone seemed to enjoy their boozy lunch.

Ex Batts good afternoon one and all!

Tea is ready.

Temperature is in the 80s with thunder storms.

Have a great day!
Here we had thunder storms too an hour ago. Amazing skies and clouds in weird shapes. One heavy lightning and thunder bursted very close by.

The chickens and chicks tucked in early today. The mama’s and chicks loved to free range for about 3 hours today.

Have a nice evening/night or day depending on your location. Here it 22.15.
