That is the thing, if it stalls, that is a lot of rainfall and the winds can still be dangerous.we have some straw and wood chips, we bought extra in case we got a lot of rain, which normally we do.

They strike me as yobs rather than rioters.

Yob culture - which has a long and inglorious history in GB - used to express itself through football hooliganism; racism is a constant option and currently immigration is the excuse. Imo these people just want to be loud and violent and the centre of attention, and whatever can serve as an excuse to get a few hundred of them organised onto one place and time, and generate an audience, will do.

The media coverage is seriously misleading in failing to emphasize how few they are, relatively speaking.

Seems like we're all dealing with similar crap, then

I wonder how much worse things are going to get. In a small riot in Thessaloniki earlier this spring the majority of rioters were mostly underage, or of barely legal age

so far the courts have dealt with people aged 14 to 69 here

Drink also has a big role to play in fuelling these people's behaviour, as Shad pointed out; those people often express tearful regret once sober. Note the presence of women in the dock too.

What I found inspiring was how the locals in Southport turned up the next morning to clean up after the riots and help shopkeepers after their stores were looted. Stark contrast to ill informed rioters who were more interested in serving their own political agenda than supporting a grieving community - very sad.
