Shadrach's Ex Battery and Rescued chickens thread.

Yep, that’s where I first discovered this. I think I was @‘ed by someone asking about ”articles read” count and got fascinated with the whole thing. Anything to avoid doing something else that I ought to be doing (see my signature.) But someone (Notabitail?) commented that they also thought the angry emoji meant “angry at poster”, so I figured I’d do some cleanup to amend for any hurt feelings.
I had no idea!

I know, right?

It's very weird trying to use other emojis to convey "Wow, that's awful! You have every right to be furious!"

👍 for "mm-kay, whatever"
❤️ for "I love that your neighbor sprayed RoundUp on a windy day"
🤣 for "That's so funny that your other neighbor lets their dogs run"

and so on

Oh well. Like everything online, it can be difficult to interpret emojis.

Get well soon Shad!
Mad Mr Bean GIF by Working Title

Hope this one will cheer you up.
(If you search the gif’s with the text ‘get well’ it shows up very quickly. 😆)
Thought it’s somehow appropriate for you. Excuse me if you are too sick to enjoy Englands best.

And in case you’ve missed the news today: your king has become a prince again.

J got them out for over an hour.

You still have so much green around! Much of our yard looks as if the girls had learned how to work flamethrowers.

I'm finding that it's very true, though, that plants that are well beyond the seedling stage generally do fine, unless they are something like horseweed (Erigeron canadensis), that's just tall and skinny and begging for chickens to strip its leaves (ours are above 6' tall and naked for the first 3'-4'):

Surely someone owes tax of 🐔by now

Interesting. I have had very different experiences here. The bantams fly down from the tree they roost on (within their own pen) if I so much as get close.

The LFs are more stubborn, but they are not completely opposed to fleeing during the night.
Under Kolovos rule, he would have his favourite hen under his wing, two on each side of him, and one right below him. That way, he could reach all of them. If one were to do much as approach his hens during the night, he’d peck. Hard. Hens that were farther away from him, or were not in his core group, would flee if their sister got picked off.

Any chicks that were in the roosting stages (none of which had mothers, as they were raised by us) would be even more prone to fleeing
I guess I'm not that scary.:confused::D
