Shadrach's Ex Battery and Rescued chickens thread.

I had the same problem with a lot of the abbreviated breed names!
I can’t complain too much about that, however, as I found myself doing the same :duc .

Now that’s an excellent case in point. I thought SIL was for sister in law (although I guess it can be used for both)!
SIL is one abbreviation in which context is used. Hopefully it's clear.

why use capital letters:

Apple Cider Vinegar
Yes, now I get it.
In the Netherlands we use capitals very sparsely.
According to the official Dutch spelling, only names that refer to unique people, places, or things are capitalised. The words in apple cider vinegar are NOT unique.
So it’s not just translating the words, but also other spelling that we need to consider in translating.
like I did for "TLDR".
Thanks and I wonder, what was the answer for TLDR, so I can forget this abbreviation too.

I use capital letters for abbreviations so people don't think I mistyped a word.

I don't always understand abbreviations. I don't care if people think I'm stupid, so I just ask. :pop
'Chat talk' just makes complicated language differences more complicated. I am the annoying person that spells everything out when texting...LOL and I am not nearly as fast as my 35 y/o son. *sigh

Too Long Didn't Read

I think it's borderline rude too tell someone their post was too long. My opinion (IMO, IMHO).

And some of us do our social media on a phone...

I know I can use a lot of abbreviations, so thanks for the reminder that they can be difficult for some people to understand. I'll try to be better about that.

It's often - I'd say more often - used in reference to something you've written yourself, to signify a summary.
