…That's definitely not the case here! My mum is very involved with her (CofE) church. She'd probably have a stroke herself at the idea of Protestant churches not having midnight mass on Christmas Eve and then a Christmas morning service…
I’m pretty sure that the big Episcopalian (=Anglican/CofE) churches here do the same. Although I’d be stunned if they called them “masses”. Is your mum “High Church”? I maybe understand the high vs low, but probably not.

Those who love to do the categorization of the eleventy-billion different denominations of Christian churches in the US pause, quill pens hovering over parchment, when it comes to the Episcopalians. “Hmm. Aren’t they just like Catholics, except with no allegiance to Rome? Can they actually be considered Protestant? Hmm.” In the US, Episcopalian churches are often regarded as the church of rich snobs. 🤷🏼

As a choral singer who has no particular allegiance to denominations, along with a pretty unorthodox approach to theology, I just attend whichever church has a good music program.

45mph wind gusts, rain, hail at around 6C. Nobody went out except to get a drink. Mow had feathers blowing off her.

I think she is by preference but I don't think her local church is especially. The Church of England calls it midnight mass on their website.

She's not bothered about attending the odd Catholic service - when she was in Paris visiting my brother recently she "accidentally" went to a second service at Notre Dame after staying for an organ recital after the first one and also went to a Greek Orthodox church she likes there. I think her mum was much the same, despite being born in Belfast. My mum's partner was raised Catholic but officially he's a church warden at their local CofE place now, although in reality they share the role.

She also looks after the vicar's chickens when he's away. Hopefully they'll serve as tax since I don't have any more new pictures of my own

Last I heard, they were still being housed separately overnight because the new teenage bantams were bullying the older large fowl.

I had to insist on herding the chicks back into the greenhouse when it started picking up here this afternoon! They were wanting to fly but there's a lot more wind once you get higher than the old raised beds and similar clutter around the plot.

I love this.

I think it’s funny that as a born-and-raised Protestant who started singing at age 5, I know way more liturgical Latin than my Catholic son-in-law. 2/3 of what I sing is in Latin.

Although I am completely on board with the congregation being sung at in their own daily language, my music snob notes that singing “veni’ works much better than singing”coooome”

She's fairly fluent in Latin as well. She studied it at university for a bit before dropping out because the course was more classics than pure language.

I'm not religious at all but some of that music is really beautiful.

Just remembered I have baby murderbird photos from the other day to offer as tax before I shut up

She's going to be an absolute terror, just like her biological mother.

That's a GORGEOUS shot. When the calendar contests opens up, enter it!

I have a load similar but there's some straw in the way and her beak is either out of focus, out of shot or covered by feathers in a way I don't like :barnie

I'll have to try and get a better one before she gets any bigger.

I still REALLY like that first pic. There's a sense of motion to it with the feathers trailing around her face. Yet it has the crystal clear focus on the chick
