Shadrach's Ex Battery and Rescued chickens thread.

Two hours. The wind direction was blowing from the East and it was cold but it didn't rain until after I got home.
They came out to eat and headed back to the coop extension after a quick forage for greens.

View out of the bus heading West out of the city.
Bus and shopping at the moment is don't touch anything and this front seat on the bus has a glass panel between the seat and the entrance doors. Best place to sit to avoid anyone coughing in your face.

I haven't read the books but did watch the show, Shetland. A lot of the attraction for me was the shots of the beautiful scenery. It is a place I'd love to go,

I don’t like cold and wet. The usual weather on Shetland tells me , I probably will not enjoy it even if the scenery is amazing. But who knows, maybe I’d love to one day mid summer when the temps increase a bit more than usual.

One year when we had an upcoming heatwave in Europe we decided to go to Norway. It was great with temps up to around 30C, except for Bergen (with the usual cold and rain).

Won’t go the US either. Partly bc its far and expensive. It’s getting even more out of reach bc of new rules and ridiculous taxes for the national parks for people from abroad.

but DH doesn't want to go visit a place where people are constantly washing up dead. (Kidding - maybe some day.)

A lot of interesting places have crime story series. After reading Donna Leon’s crime stories in Venice (great read) he surely doesn’t want to visit Venice either.

My Barred Rock also sleeps with her head hanging down.

She looks like a hopelessly seasick passenger in rough seas.

I think we need a picture of that!
I'm not sure how my birds sleep because when I open their big door with a lantern in hand they all jerk and stare at me with guilty looks. And then maybe the Big Boss Bresse will clear the roost bars in both directions just because she can and everyone is in an uproar so I feel bad and walk away with all the squabbling and muttering going on again.
I'm getting a headlamp with a red light for Christmas. I should be able to see better what goes on in there at night.

Edit to add: Demeter replied, and apparently these are typical body feathers. I thought they’d all be either butt fluff or flight feathers!

Aye that was what I kind of meant but worded really badly. Although I think Barred Rocks are about 90% butt fluff

Speaking of butts He's been taking the Nest Finder part of his job very seriously but hasn't quite worked out that no one can lay in the amazing spot he's "found" until he shifts his own backside out of the way.
