Shadrach's Ex Battery and Rescued chickens thread.

…Mrs Chew A Coop has been back but hasn't chewed. Maybe her dentist has told her to knock it on the head if she wants any teeth left in her old age.
Actually, I think she took a nonstop from Bristol to Asheville and brought her entire family with her.

I’m hoping that the run has thawed a bit, because I need to dig up the tunnel(s) before blocking the access to the run tomorrow, so that I don’t trap an entire family of rats in the run. :barnie

- I’d love to believe that it’s only one rat, but I’m not that delusional…

I had a whole nest under my run a few years ago. I had no clue. I knew there were rats (they were there before we got chickens) but one day I stomped on the ground in the run and it sounded hollow. It was a pain to get rid of but it made me very uptight about leaving food out for sure.

Dryish morning. I set out for the field and it starts to piss down with rain. Rain for the one and a half hours I was at the field. It had stopped by the time I got home.
Nobody was interested in going out.

Sorry for the weather. I wanted it to go go South Africa and Australia. There they would have been happy with it.

Yesterday i saw a big hawk (female) on my way home. When I stepped down from my bike to take a photo, he flew away.
I wonder why hawks never come here but are often seen nearby (1km and more). Are there certain habitats where they fly? Or just not interested in urban surroundings?

So no hawk. i do have one of chickens chilling in the coop.
