Does anyone use Shapley's MTG for chickens? I've been a big fan of it for horses for years. It makes hair grow back faster or just more thickly. It also smothers fungal infections like sweet itch, scratches, and I've even used it for thrush. I'm wondering if it could help with topical fungal infections like favus, or maybe help with raised up scales to prevent leg mites, or help feathers grow back more quickly after picking incidents or even deter repeated picking (it smells God awful so it probably tastes terrible too).

Quite a few use Nu Stock cream for various ailments like SLM, picking, used on bare skin to help promote healing due to urates, so you could probably use the Shapely's in that manor.
Do some research and you'll be able to come up with a conclusion of your own.

As for helping feathers grow faster, if the loss is due to picking, then it may deter picking which would allow feathers to grow back in without being plucked back out...

Comparing ingredients

Shapely's M-T-G = Sulfur, paraffinic distillates, petroleum distillates, zinc stearate, cade oil, glycerin.
Nustock Cream = sulfur, mineral oil and pine oil.

I love finding one product that just seems to do it all. I've used that stuff on my horse for so many things over the years, the only thing is I still haven't got used to the odor. :sick

I would just watch for skin sensitivities with your chickens. I used it on one of my horses and he reacted to it which from talking to others it isn’t that uncommon to react to it. Everywhere I put it his skin was badly irritated and then by the end of the week he lost all of his hair only where I had applied the MTG.

Wow, thank you!!! I ran in a few horse circles for a long time and I never heard of anyone having this issue, I'm so glad you said something because I just assumed it was totally safe. I hope he got better after that!

Hi all, I have a rampant feather picker who cleared everyone's butt feathers... hers is still gorgeous of course. I ordered the Nu-Stock and will start treatment once it arrives. I also got a back of feather fixer feed to upnthe protein. I tried sardine therapy and it just left my wallet empty, my house smelly and my feather picker happy lol :idunno
