I have two. Dakota is the 110 pound Shepherd mix, he was a rescue; great at keeping bad things away but unfortunately also likes to eat little animals.
Maya is the 140 pound English Mastiff, she is great with all the animals AND helps Dakota keep the bad things away!
Here are my great farm dogs. We found them all dumped on the side of the road, at diffferent times, outside our 26 acres that has a 9 foot fence all around it. ( It used to be a deer farm) They were all emaciated and in terrible shape, but look at them now!!
This is Minnie
Major- Minnies brother.Found them together when they were 6 months old. They weighed 15 pounds each.
Major and Hannah the next one we found.
Chester, our little pitbull. He was all bit up from head to toe, we think they used him as a bait dog for fighting. He is the sweetest of all the dogs.
They all love to watch the babies!!
And the last one is Chaz. Found in July, by the way he is up for adoption. He is good with all the chickens (they all free roam) and is turning into a beautiful looking dog.PM me if you are interested. Would be willing to drive some distance for a good home.
Here is 1 of our 3 Monsters, Murph, licking General Tso the chicken. The other two, Barley and Honey, generally just leave them be, but Murph has to sniff and lick things.
Misty - Chaz is BEAUTIFUL. Wow. So is Chester, but wow, Chaz is breathtaking. Hope he finds his forever home :0
Thank-you Chick-Norris (love the name!) Chaz only had patches of hair when we found him, He was covered in fleas and tics and had scratched himself raw. So its been amazing to watch this beautiful coat grow in with these amazing markings on him.
Sad that people are dumping these great dogs .
Agreed! Our 3 are rescues and we volunteer at a local shelter (hence having 3 dogs, ha), and because we are near Philly, we see a LOT of pitties and pit mixes. All 3 of ours are pit mixes. They are the most wonderful bigheaded sweethearts and it makes me tear up to think about them not having a nice place to live. I guess we do the best we can with what we have!
Here is my old dog, Scout. He's 3/4 English Shepherd and 1/4 Rough Collie; he's eleven years old. He's a good watchdog and protective of my ducks (although he never seemed to care about the chickens!). He's never bothered any of the livestock, but doesn't seem to have even a speck of herding instinct (unless someone comes by with a bicycle when he's loose, LOL!). He's probably the smartest dog I've ever had, and one of the sweetest -- I don't know how I'll replace him when he's gone.
This is our new puppy, Mac, at about seven weeks old. He's supposedly half Border Collie (the father) and the mother was Pit Bull, Lab, and German Shepherd. All I can say at this point is that he seems to be smart, he's sweet, busy, and cute!
