I have a Golden Sebright roo named Potpie. One day he looked like he was going to be a problem roo-wise and I warned him off, telling him he might not be much but I could make a potpie outta him. The name stuck.

I had an Ameraucana pullet with a crossed bill I named Slacky (she looked slack-jawed). Sadly I learned why cross-billed chicks are culled when she could no longer eat enough to keep herself going. She was my one truly pet chicken and I miss her.

I had a barred rock roo named "Binomialnomenclature" we were studying animal kingdom classification in biology and I just loved the word LOL

I think our hens win hands-down for Most Pretentious Names Ever.
All are named after female authours/artists/musicians that lived on the West Bank of France during the '20s-'30s.
We have/Have Had:
Radclyffe Hall--the die-hard punk rock Ameraucana and survivor of German Shepherd and cat attacks. My landlord found her in the mountains while biking one day.
Rosalyn: sweetest Barred Rock
Claude Cahun--some sort of fantastic mutt-mix. Don't know where to start, but she's super broody and has a ruff.
Vita Sackville-West: Buff Orp, only lived 2 months.
Gertrude Stein and Alice B. Toklas: RIR sibling pair.

Yeah...we have high hopes for our hens. Of course the Librarian and the Social Worker named their chickens after snooty artists and literary figures!
