Share your power outage experiences - is there hope?

Just a heads up for everyone. I hunt and have used those hand warmers to keep warm. They need oxygen to work, so they will eat up oxygen in the incubatior. I would not cover the incubator if using the warmers.

I said I would look up in Storey's what to do in a power outage. He suggests having a UPS available. I do have one but it seems to work very poorly, if at all.

In any event, you are right Storey's says that it is better to let them cool and start them up again than to try to keep them warm.

Wish I had thought to read this before our power outage.

He also says that the more valuable the eggs are that you are incubating, the more likely a power outage is.

Day 13 and we had a power cut form 6 - 11, but still got 4/6 hatch rate , temp dropped slowly as opposed to suddenly !
