That's not true that they all turn mean. Mine are only 3 1/2 months but I've read hundred of posts about toms being perfectly amiable when mature. Probably like roosters and more often than not roosters are fine. I think some people must relate to them wrong or something, not sure. Just like with dogs.

Mitzi, I sure hope my tom stays nice like he is now! I'd naturally be the one exception to the rule! haha (Just my luck!) But they are just so peaceful and friendly......Bonnie has begun to let me pet her when I'm feeding her treats...I just love that....

I have BR tom about 1 1/2 yrs old. I bought him in June and he displayed ALL the time. He always stayed just out of reach--didn't like being petted at all.

Now his is comfortable in his new home and almost never displays. I don't have any trouble with him at all. My young boys have the job of driving him and his Mrs. back to their coop for the night. We really like him.

IMO based raising a few chickens, how they behave as adults will not be known until they do some growing up and the testosterone kicks in full force. I have one rooster who is a"Raptor" and lives up to his name attacking any time he is concerned for his girls. His brother could careless and loves to be picked up everyday.

JMO.

Need to get some pics up of the poults. THey have grown big and cruise everywhere together.

My 8 week old poults.

If anyone can tell toms/hens that would be awesome.

Probably too hard to tell. Heck, I can't even tell and I can see them in person.

Might sound like a silly question, but what breed is he?? He's really handsome, and Im fairly new to turkeys, but I haven't seen such an irridesence of the feathers like that in very many turkeys! But like I said - Im new lol. Really Beautiful.
