I pm'd Speckledhen too, but I stuck to the subject of sharks being a friendly group, and have never attacked anyone and we started that name as a joke about the significant bids at the end of auctions. The only problem has been that we ended up defending ourselves as "cheap and disrespectful" which is major not true.

I don't want this group of us being followed around and labeled as troublemakers because of a silly word we call eachother.

People haven't been paying attention if they think 1 cent bids are an insult to the breeder. We are just needling each other, at least I am. It has no reflection whatsoever on the breeder, it means I will be bidding higher near the end of the auction, usually. If the breeder thinks it reflects on him he really needs to think this through. He is being pretty silly. If each breeder wants to set his own bid increments, I guess that is fine, if it makes him feel good about himself and his product, but I expect overall the price will not crawl as high.

I agree that all the bidding and banter really end up hiking the price farther than it might otherwise go. It attracts other people to the auction, AND IT IS GOOD FUN, HARMLESS RECREATION, AND SOCIALIZING! Isn't that what the BYC board is supposed to be for? I've dropped some major cash here, too. If they change the rules I may shop elsewhere, and that would be a bummer.

geosheets sound very whiny in that paragraph.

I think being labeled a shark is a compliment.

The point of an auction is to bid, increments should not matter. Being honest the auctions with the most views and bids, catch my interest the most being new and trying to develop a "quality" flock. This means that others believe the quality of the birds is worth adding to there flock and the seller likely has a good reputation. I read ALOT before I bid, I look at feedback, previous auctions and even the peoples previous posting as all of this gives me a clue as to how there birds are taken care of and developed, kwim? I have read here alot to pick bidding on Hoppy's and Ilovefrizzles eggs, both have good reputations. I am salivating over Katy's birds, lol.

The nibbles only hurt for a minute.

Let's see, what can we call our group? I've got it! The Fluffy Bunnies! Marshmallows? The Adorables?
Re-treads?

Katy's got great birds. We love to add quality stock to our own breeding programs. We all aim for the good of the breed and good quality stock. That's why it seems so unfair to be singled out. Further more, our bidding is a dare... a dare to take the price to the next level if we think those birds are worth the true gamble of shipped eggs. I have 5 birds from 37 eggs so far... clearly it is a gamble...

........From a bidders standpoint, I also get frustrated with the 1 cent increments. Being beat by 1 cent in the last few seconds of an auction is just not fair

This has happened to me several times. Did it annoy me -yes. Did I think it was UNFAIR - no.

hi hi hi hi hi-its takes me forever to catch up with you chatter sharks...LOL.. It is a compliment to be caled a shark "clique" or not I love you all-I dont care what people call me-I know who I am you know who I am-those who buy eggs from me know who I am-we are all very fun loving-very giving-very caring individuals that love BYC and all its happenings-its sad that I think people seem to be "jealous" of our little family of snipers-If someone doesnt want eggs taken from them for a penny-well bid 5$ more bucks dang it... end of story you know? dont let your self get outbid by a penny! LOL

Oooooo....Katy's birds. So pretty. Unfortunately, my bator has 180+ eggs in it and I already had to stack a couple on the bottomshelf until I candle next Friday. I am trying to stay away from the auction page as I am unsure I can resist the temptation.

Hatching and selling rocks help pay for my chicken addiction. Hmmm....another incubator? How did a chick or 2 become an addiction so fast? I now have 3 hen houses, 2 growout pens, 3 brooders (one 6x8 in the garage) and a Cabinet incubator. My hubby spends much time rolling his eyes at me and then building another area.

Thank god he loves me, it is normal to have an incubator and chicks living in your living room, right?
