!! They'll be warmer for sure...18 of em plus a SLW to have as an example for type....The next week i am getting 24 from Blue Poultry...so I hope to have a few great looking birds to breed!

Do it! Do it! The barnes need people who care about quality breeding!! I am still learning, but very excited to take the step past hatchery birds. I cannot wait to my babies grow up. I am scared i will have all roosters, as I am becoming quite attached.

So, I went back and read about my blrw babies and it says "Barber lines and my line, a heavily culled original McKinney for mahogany coloring and beautiful lacing." I have heard of Barber lines...who is McKinney? I thought you BLRW gurus were sure to know.

Hope everyones babies are doing well and are going to travel safely.

McKinney birds were hatchery birds that they crossed with gold laced so they could churn out more chicks.

The dark mahogany is what your looking for. You don't want to breed any of them that show more gold. I guess the gold shows through easily. Splash X Splash gets you splash and Splash X BLR gets you 50% BLR and 50% Splash so ideally you want to put one over the other. Blue over Blue can land you with blacks (25%), but if you dont mind that it's ok.

Okay, I feel better. Her flock looked nothing like the pictures of the McKinney stock, much more like the Barber line. Her birds were some of the prettiest I have seen, so I will pray that there genes carry forward to my babies.

I forgot to mention...that we bought Dylan a pair of New Zealands for his Bday...(13...and is what he asked for) I know, I know...pics....haha I will take some tomorrow after work....and of course will take more pics of the teenage chicks haha and the new babies!

Alright I'm one tired chick and work is going to be busy tomorrow. Soooo Nyquil for the cough that never lets go and I am going to bed! Night all, I'll empty the bator of the last 3 eggs and clean it in the morning. I figured I'd give them an overnight atleast...
