Aww, I was just kidding! I figured I'd get a slap for that one. I luv ya!!!!

nah just having a rough one I guess? I have this last BCM that hatched and its a girl! She is favoring one leg and just rolls over on her back-I have taped her legs and I have been being her crutch for 3 hours-holding her up and such...It reminds me of a chick still squished in shell. These chicks were HUGE! wonder if shell was to cramped and it made her grow a little funky -making her standing or walking almost impossible. Mark said ...Hun I think you have a handicapper on OUR hands. I said if she doesnt get things straightened out within 48 hours Ill have to put her down. She looks great but her belling is still full of yolk for nutrition and I cant be around to hand feed her when she needs that or water

I hope her leg gets better. One of the lav silkies hatched with a funky leg and J put it in a band aid sling for 2 days and she got better. I hope yours does too.

yah mine is in a band aid sling right now but she pushes with one foot and flips right over-I have her wedged in corner of brooder to force her to sit on the opposite side of her body. that way she can't flip herself but every hour I offer water and food

I am not a heartless person but I cant do handicapped birds anymore. I did it my first year with chickens and I swear I had more handicappers than normal birds. It tooka toll on me as I had to put them all down one by one. I always give chicks about 4-5 days to look like they are improving but when they dont I cull them

Its a rule I follow to keep my sanity and to not put them through pain or hunger from not being able to reach their food and water

I totally understand. I don't have time to take care of a special needs bird, with all the other to take care of. I applaud people who do though.

Yah lucky you!

Hope it stays that way for your enjoyment. And it is kind of refreshing to see somebody else take climate abuse!

She might turn out OK - I get 'flippy' can't walk chicks now and then, and they seem to straighten out in a few hours... when did she hatch? Had one GIGANTIC chick I thought had a slipped tendon and would have to be culled and he seemed to fix himself too. Not sure how he did that.

Used to have splay leg a lot when using the hovabator, but none since using the brinsea with the hovabator and shelf liner as backup.

I hate to say it, but I am like this too. I work full time and am here by myself a lot of the week and I just can't do special needs

. I have what I need on hand should I need it- I give them a few days if it looks like something fixable. SO far I have not had to cull a chick, but I know that day will come. I did five years with a cat in diapers that needed enemas and another one that got daily IV fluids - so I'm not completely heartless.

shes 28 hours old....Ill keep working on her when Im home to help her strengthen up as much as possible.

Now Houston is having rolling blackouts because the wind damaged some electric substations. This is crazy. John will not be thrilled if our power goes off and I bring all the pup and dogs into bed.
