Where did you get it? Under the other auction section? I am having a heck of a time keeping track of what breed has what color band from which hatch. Do you think it would help for that?

My Orp Clarisse spent the night in a nest rather on the 2 foot high roost. Never done that before. I'm contemplating putting her on the patio in a crate with water containing wazine, antibiotic, corrid, and vitamins and electrolytes, and giving her high protein food. If she's not laying an egg (doubt it) then I should move her? I'm wondering if it's a molt or illness. I don't see that she's blown alot of feathers but she is growing new ones in. With an orp, wouldn't you expect them to blow alot of feathers?

But if she is growing new feathers in she must have molted them, right? So that might be the problem. It would be good if that was the problem.

Nekkid as a jaybird. Gotta put the right redneck twang to it, too.

LOL I love that-heard it before just never wrote it out like that... Nekkid-- :)

I just popped in, tonight was tv night for me- but one of my shows wasn't on - boo! about to give up on it watch something else.
my meat chicks are coming tomorrow so I had to set up for them- 8 weeks of dread- hate them, eat, poop and be angry chicks. I wonder if it's where I get them, the first ones I raised didn't seem as aggressive as the last 2 yrs chicks. mine are coming from welp but I got my first ones from cackle which also cost quite a bit more.
looks like I will have some room in the incubator, so I'm off to look at hatching eggs- yeah!

Hi. Mary, I don't know what kind of molt it is, but she's 3 and I don't recall her ever molting. She must be now because she's got pin feathers all over her. I wonder if molting hurts? She's so weak , and pale. I hate to crate her for molting, but it might be a good idea to get some high protein nutrition into her.

It looks like my silkie chick and my little orp chick from the car are acting normal finally. And my two D'uccles are fine.

Which brings me to a really naughty thing I did. I found splash Jersey eggs, and he'll mail them next week. I just couldn't resist. My husband's going to kill me. I have a broody silkie, so I'm going to hide the eggs under her, and play dumb.

I do think molting can make them feel poorly. I certainly got that impression from a couple of my girls that went through a hard molt.
