I find with the BLR, I set them and pretty much leave them alone. I don't candle but I do check heart rates (I have a doppler), I do this once, pull any without heartbeats at 2 weeks. of my own, I'm getting 100% hatch, of shipped eggs, greater then 80% (only one set is blr and they are due tomorrow so they don't count). I will say when I was starting my flock, I bought alot but didn't get many to hatch. I stopped buying off of
ebay/ and another egg site. one thing about wyandottes in general, the rosecomb decreases fertility, straight combs increase it so that could be part of the problem. I used to freak when I saw single combs, now I don't.
wthchrist, could it be something like your incubator not having enough or too much humitiy at the end or being opened too often?
set them and forget them. I hope you last bunch are girls not boys.
OMG Hoppy! I never thought about using my doppler! That's brilliant! I have one from this last pregnancy(nothing real fancy). Does it work well? At what age can you actually hear their heartbeat?
Nava, sorry about your birds
