I can. It is always better to start the auction low to get LOTS of interest. If you ladies thought you had a chance you would bid small, and then catch the BIDDING FEVER, and the price goes through the roof!
My son told me I needed to sell some of those $500 eggs.
(don't I know it) I had to explain how it works.....
You know what is scary? Has anybody heard from the BP company man (the BP man out on the rig and actually in charge of the rig and drilling)? Nope. BP has probably sent him to either the arctic or Tahiti or someplace so he can't say what actually happened to the media. If anybody knows what happened it is the company man.
I work for a major corporate oil company (not BP), and the impact can be felt throughout the industry, not even taking into account the environmental impact of the catastrophe.
Brindle, thanks for the links. Daylilies are my favorite. Pretty care free. Each flower last a day. However, some cultivars put out so many flowers that you can get blooming over a month to six weeks. There are some that repeat like Stella D'Oros. The good thing is that they multiply fast and in the spring you just yank them out of the ground and pull the mass apart (like bulbs but not bulbs) and stick them back in the ground. You can divide them any time of the year. No bugs , fungus, and even voles don't like them, and neither do deer. I've gotten the best prices on Ebay, and really nice plants.
. I got some true araucana eggs and 3 hatched, one was hugely tufted. I thought the first one was my fault as it was small and I thought the other chicks might have smothered it. Then 2 days later the tufted one died and then today the last one died
. I don't know what it is with this breed....I have had a couple pullets just drop for no reason also. This is such a challenging breed for me and for some reason I can't just give it up. I am going to try to hatch some of my own in a few weeks and see if I have any more luck
on another note 12 of the 13(1 was questionable anyway) d'Anvers hatched, 2 orloff w/1 pipped and still waiting on 4 others.... got a whole bunch of blue andalusian and golden lakenvelder hatching too, 12 pips in the bator....gotta shuffle brooder space

Maybe the company man went down with "ship". My hubby works in oil and natural gas production here in NM, and they constantly are being inspected and made to jump through hoops by the BLM to protect the environment. We're talking MUCH smaller wells here. It would be nice to hear the real story, but it sound like BP will be held accountable.
On a happier note...Hoppy, 7 of your BLRWs are doing well on day 13.

Sem, I gotta say our deer must be different cuz ours eats them, but only when they are just coming up. They ALWAYS mow them down on us but luckily it is before they flower so they recover well
other than that it is the only species I have that no messes with, my chickens are killing my poor hosta
Oh yeah! I worked in big oil for 15 years before being laid off.
All aspects of it are very very sad.
I don't think BP is behaving very well about it, either. They really need to put on their big boy knickers.
And suspending all deep water drilling for the next 6 months boggled my mind. Those rigs will probably leave the Gulf. A British blowout has affected the whole US economy and kicked the Gulf Coast in the shorts environmentally and economically.
I am assuming this suspension does not include the side wells BP is drilling to try to relieve some of the pressure on the blowout well.
Most folks don't know that the Gulf Coast is one of the more dangerous places in the world to drill because of the high pressure.
