I've got 2 brinseas but man, have I been eyeing those rcoms!

Sell the brinseas at the start of next season, and buy the r-coms!! you won't loose that much $$, or (what I would do) keep the brinsea for overflow /hatching and get the rcoms anyway

It is agonizing hearing about temp spikes and all the shenanigans that go on in peoples incubators. And all that heartache and lost chicks

I haven't had any temp spikes. The only problems I have had is when the power goes out, so I need to wrap up my hatching before a hurricane comes in.

Comparitively speaking, I have had very good luck with my Brinseas and think they are good incubators. I just think rcom is better! I would keep the brinseas for sure - probably as hatchers.

I want to do some more cotournix they are sooooo mellow compared to the buttons which are cute, sing pretty, but are as flighty as you can get!!! I might need to find some eggs locally... when I get the new bator (insert diabolical laughter) THEN the bator is put up... cross my heart... well..... heh... there IS chickenstock 2010 the sequel....

ok my cute babies!!
where are these posted, I checked this thread and didn't find them, did I not go back far enough? (7 pages)

Sorry hoppy. They are mixed in with the other "Various BLRW chickettes" in that series of pictures. I think I caught 2 on film - none were keen to get their photos taken.

Tut tut. I just scrambled the babies in the brooder some eggs and mixed them with vitamins and a little yogurt. Ugly scene.

Think of going bonkers and screaming and shrieking and chasing and general mayhem until it is all gone. Tut.

I agree, Brinsea is a close second to the R-com. I have an ancient one for overflow (who am I kidding ) and hatching. You can also stand eggs up in it, which you can't in the rcom because of how the turner works.

If the Brinsea is not necessarily a better bator and the rcom costs over $100 less, why do people get the brinseas in the first place?

hey sem, you can use the GFM towards you PPM and it wont be as much, plus you are a GFM already there is another discount.

Phage send me the ducky too!!!!

Sounds good! Who do I call?

I was so exhausted this evening. I spent all day putting up a new pen for the silkies, this one is relatively under trees and gets shade most of the day. The other good thing is that the breeze is cooler because of the trees. So with ice water, they should be okay. They had shade before, but shade from trees always feels cooler.

Because the rcom is new. Brinsea have been the king small incubator for ever before rcom came along.

Thank you, I wasn't planning on such a variety of Ameraucanas, but it is much easier to get quality stock than in LF cochins. The top people in the Ameraucana breed are very generous with their stock which I have to believe is good for the breed and us newbies don't get discouraged. I hope that blue keeps that lacing! I will go for anything with lacing.

Oh, and jmt distibutors has the rcom king suro for $310 on sale. The 50 egg unit was $689. If I'm going to be addicted to hatching I will need to upgrade for my hovabator genesis, although my temps are really steady in it.
