That's so awesome. I would love to do something like that!

Yah my DH bought me a portable greenhouse for christmas. He knows how much I love my gardens. Now I need a decent tiller, and a bigger barn so I can snipe more auctions from Nava and El Dubya LOL!

Nava may be a shark, but she's a real sweet shark and this is going to be a great hatch for her, and then lots of eggs for us!!!!!!!!!

well, I thank you Seminole!! Love you too.

how did you do on those strawberries? did your girls like them? oh and by the way love that name of your orp!!!!!!

After the initial snorting and "what's that" looks, I had a few strawberry tasters, then it was oink oink oink. So they cleaned them up and loved them (cept for the one I ate)
When I got my cutie splash home, my Elsie snuggled up to her like she was mama! They are very happy together.

If I had more land I'd try to grow and mill most of my own feed, they free range 7 months of the year, but we get sooo much snow from november to march it's impossible to not buy feed. I'd love to have a full blown homestead on 10 acres, but we haven't found the right land yet.
ETA: That and I haven't won the lottery so we can move to Maine LOL.

Oh, MAN, the wind out there is killer! Makes a big difference when you spend hours out there - goes right to your bones, or your metal knees, as the case may be. Dogs like it, though.

Have you ever noticed the best coats go over your butt? Nothing worse than cold butt cheeks.

Been catching up on the thread - and this is not a neener - my tomatoes are already about a foot tall with blooms! Composted chicken poop and Microlife do wonders along with Superthrive. My roses have really started blooming and the flower garden is greening up. I have been working hard trying to clear dead frozen black semi-tropicals and hope most come back from the roots. First Ike and then a week with nights in the 20s. Its tough on a Southern garden. I love my heirloom bulbs and roses. Cheers everything up!

chickenlittle32 - Do you have any interest in a araucana 'roo? He's been my favorite, and he just "turned" into a he, I think. He is developing a comb. Rumpless and double, though unevenly, tufted. Going to be light splash. Came from a nice blue egg. Very calm.

I'd like him to go someplace where he will have a permanent home. If you don't want him, just let me know and I can place him on a milk goat farm. The main problem there is they have another 'roo I gave them (Henrietta the Spec. Sussex turned into Henry) and he is really aggressive with other roosters.

Maybe you can look at "him" on The Great Chicken Trade Day and give me your opinion.

Brindle...I can take a look at him and let you know....We recently gave my MIL some of our extra roos because her roo wasn't doing his job.... I like the name you gave for the trade....which is about 2 wks away!!!

Nat - I am so sorry, hope it all works out. I haven't had any temp spikes yet (this year). I had a bad one last year that cost me about $150 in eggs.

I candle my B/B/S silkie eggs, MF cochin and Bantam Buff Laced Polish tonight as well. I'll update you guys on that tonight!

MMMM Foleys... Darn those are some nice birds. I may need to get more Wine Dots... I'd like some silver laced. Natalie I tried to call you back, you were away from your desk. Anyone got a REAL surefired way to get rid of a nasty viral cold?
