Peeps - nope all EE's They came from either a blue or greenish-blue egg.

Seminole - Since she started brooding I have held the food and water dishes for her so she wouldn't have to get up, petting and talking to her a few times EVERY day. She didn't even growl when I reached under to check the chickies out. She is a sweet girl.

I am so wishing I had another broody for these eggs that are coming. Wow, broodies are awesome!

Broodies??? Ya need some silkie hens if you don't have any. I have 3 hens who spent the entire summer sitting on air! One day they stopped, then laid eggs for a week or two, then went back to broody. Silly girls!

This summer I think I will give them each an egg for fun! Some Jerseys!

Nothing yet, but I candled last night and looks like all but 4 of the new batch are clear and had to lose one more to non-development out of this hatch

Lady, I can help you. Package up those day olds and send them down here. Then you can just start over! Keep hatching.

I would...but that would not help the no room inthe bator problem. I am going to need to sell some to pay for the second bator

How are all of yours? Did you end up with the second tier in your bator?

No, still working on the big one. We just made another small hatcher (still air) but it's holding well both temps and humidity, so I feel good about it. The big one is still in the works, and I'm hoping to have it going and get a big batch in it in a few weeks. I had 23 eggs total counting mine so I was able to stack them until I could pull the ones that weren't any good. I only had to stack 3. 3 of mine quit, and one was clear, so it worked out good.

Edit: We decided to do the small hatcher because small spaces are easier to regulate temps in our experience...

Yeah, I'll go with that story. Seriously, I think that's a pretty good bator from what I hear.

This will be #2 for me. My father -in-law bought me one for Christmas. He recently died so the bator helps keep your focus elsewhere.

It does work really well.

Just a thought.
It seems that we spend SOO many $$$$$ on eggs that it is not cost effective to go with a less than the best incubator (although they require a small mortgage to buy) if we are having bad hatches due to temp spikes etc. in a "less reliable " incubator.

It does not take long before the $$$$$$ spent on a few bad hatches is the same as a new expensivo incubator.
