OMG!!! I can not believe what just happened!!! I REALLY CAN NOT!
So I had two bators going for the past few weeks right...? Bator #1 hatched out the weekend of the 18th. bator # 2 started on the 23rd and was done by the 25 which was day 22.
I did a head count tonight and I got 27 from bator #1 and 22 from bator #2 for a total of 49. I cleaned and resent bator one almost immediately but have given Bator #2 the extra time because (I was lazy) and because the rest of my new eggs do not come until tomorrow. So I unplugged it and began to clean out the shells and unhatched eggs when ... can you belive it I HEARD PEEPING!!
I franticaly begin looking for which one it could be...there were 6 left in there. One of ILOVEFRIZZLES Frizzled cochins had pipped on the bottom and was still ALIVE!!! IT IS DAY 25.
I thought that there is no way. Well no way it should still be alive and no way it is going to make it now. It has been about an hour since I hatched her out. She had a hard time stretching out. I mean think about it she has been on her head and pipped for several days. She was not even shrink wrapped!!! I LOVE THAT GENESIS!! She is standing on her own. i have given her some food in there because the yolk was absobed days ago and she looks a lillte thin. Think about how much of that yolk energy she has use to just stay alive waiting for me to be responsible!!!
Lesson learned for me. Check all eggs when I take the last chicks out!! I never do because I want them to have every chance!
That makes and even 50 for me if this one makes it. Her name is "late for dinner"
