If it is a preventative...then why are they getting it? I've never fed these anything else?

hey Mary,
It is a preventative but only in small doses. They need to eat it for 6-8 weeks to build some type of immunity to Cocci and even then they could still get it:-( Im sorry:-(

Give them some plain yogurt Mar... it will help their poor little guts with all the meds. Also if you can get your hands on Manna-pro game bird they have a medicated probiotic feed. The crap is pricey, but it really works incredibly well...

I think I'll put the 5 week olds in with the juvenilles tonight when I get home as they are "learning to fly" and like to shoot over the top of their grow out pen. Then the baby babies can be in there and the others will still have enough space... soooo many chickens... OY... I will be bringing some to chicken stock too and I think CL is in my future... I hate to part with them, I'll probably cry like he!!. Not much I can do though, confined for space and a new place won't be anytime soon. Meh... the hobby has truly become an obsession
