You ladies are hysterical. I checked in and could not stop laughing.

I just received Gumpsgirl's eggs today- 12 bbs and 8 lavs, very excited!! Especially after hearing all of your great luck with her eggs.

Those nakid chooks are just WRONG!!!!

I hatched out a bunch of mixed chicks and to my "horror" there was a NN in there. Thought I would be stuck with it for ever. Luckily a guy came with his son who sported a mohawk. His son who was the nicest kid, thought the NN was the coolest chick. Seemed to emphasize which it!!! You know what they say about dogs looking like their owners. Maybe it goes for chooks as well. One of the other chicks had a vertical line through its eyes so we had called it Alice Cooper. The lad took that one as well!

Hatch update

1. 13/19 split lav/lav orps from Tony (day 21) - JUST GOT A PIP!!!!

2. 19/24 other eggs (day 22). About half are EEs and half potential polish/silkie crosses: 6 EEs and 2 P/S out. Lots more pips.

Is it just me or are incubated eggs hatching later now than they were earlier in the spring?
Does the atmosphere or something affect incubation length?

I know that for some reason peachicks hatch out at 26 days in California but in the East take longer/the full 28 days.
Strange......
