Nat-Mike says "Hi" back atcha

I'm so glad you all made it home all right. I was starting to worry about Kristen when she wasn't posting. Nava, those pics are fabulous. Somehow, someday, we are going to have to figure out how to get together with the rest of the crew. It was great meeting you all in person.

Sem, I agree with phage, ain't no way I'd let that uh-hummm, lady, uh-hummm, buy your mule. Glad you found out before it was too late.

Ok, have to get back to doing work at work, rather than talking on here. Catch you all later!

Oh wait! Can't believe I forgot! My broody hatched her last egg, so I can now officially say I had a 100% hatch from shipped eggs with gumpsgirls eggs! Will get pics this afternoon.

What is wrong with people?!?!

I don't care if they think you owe them something, they don't get to come to your house, and help themselves. I'd be stalking their house, and stealing them right back! Evil people tick me off!

I'm so sorry hon, that's just terrible.

I was thinking you should go steal them back....but I did not want yall to think I am a criminal

Sorry I think you have to stand for yourself and the consequences be darn! If this person did it they need to be splapped back.

JMHO

I have a question for my sharkie friends now that we are mostly back. I have a mixed flock...mostly for eating eggs. My roo is a Giant black cochin (looks a lot like Nat's spare) and 10 hens one of which is a Giant black cochin hen. Got them a year ago from a friend who was switching breeds.

Long story short as you may remember I set 45 of my light brahma eggs that have hatched this weekend. Somehow about 6 of these really must have been from my mixed layer flock because they hatched out as my mixes (that I have hatched before so I do know what they look like). One of the chicks is a blue cochin!! How likly is it that it came from my 2 blacks? Wouldn't that mean that they are both blue carriers? I LOVE BLUES and that is what I have been buying all they blue cochin eggs for. Who knew I had some right here at home!!

While not a shark, I hope you don't mind if I take a shot at this. Unless both your black cochins are split for lavender, you should get all black chicks from them. You don't have a splash hen in the flock possibly ? Blue is a diluter of black. If one blue gene is present you get the classic blue chicken. If a bird inherits a blue gene from both parents, (two blue genes) you get a splash. No blue gene, bird stays black.

My local fish store has some in pots. Huge pots, some of theirs are over 8 ft tall.

if you don't have a blue or splash cochin(and I don't think anyone is doing lav in large fowl cochin yet) then it could very well be a different blue or splash hen. One thing that I noticed when I had cochins is that even though the chick wasn't pure cochin(dad was a cochin in with a mixed flock. no cochin hens) it looked very much like one until it grew up and just looked like a bad quality cochin(feet feathering was lighter, body type wasn't quite right). Bad medicine is right black x black = black (unless they are split to lav)

Sounds like she needs a golf cart.

Funny, I was just going to tell her to tell the woman to buy a 4 wheeler!

Also I am happy that the BLRW chick is doing better.

Phage- I cannot believe some people! But I am like you, I wouldn't rock the boat, hopefully they feel that they "won" and it is finished.

Sem- It is better to keep Buttercup than to have that woman ruin her. I know that gaited mules are VERY popular, I am sure you will find someone who actually is perfect.

Lovin- Love the rhubarb! It is gorgeous!

I wanted more because of the Cocci outbreak and what I have left....(Cindy...I have about 6 BWA cockerals if I am sexing them correct by the color they are coming out with)
