I've been waiting and worrying, for you to post. I'm sorry things are going so poorly right now. Are you looking to breed your chickens? If not, you don't really need a roo. Might be worth it to get rid of the roo, so you FIL doesn't get really mad and make you get rid of all of them. Are you able to put electric fencing around the coop/run? Might be worth looking into if you are suffering alot of losses. You and your family are in my thoughts and prayers every day Blessed. I'm glad you're still with us. Please try and post once in a while so we know you're ok.

Thanks, Hoppy and Carrie. I am sorry for not posting for so long. Between IV meds, lack of sleep, coons and opossums, and then the other stuff going on I just can't seem to be very conversational. I know many of you have shown concern for my daughter and our family and I'm sorry for not updating. She's doing ok, and off the IV's now. Hoping to stay that way. If so, we have a couple months reprieve before we go for another heart surgery.

Blessed, maybe they aren't worth it right now. I am sorry that you are having such a rough time of it. If getting rid of a rooster will help to ease your burden, then maybe that is what you need to do right now. There will always be more roosters.

Brooders and hatching is stressful, it sounds like you have enough stress in other parts of your life. I don't know if you have a lot of money tied up in the chicks that are getting eaten. If you need to take some time off, I would be willing to send you a box full of eggs for the cost of shipping. By this fall I should have my pens done and have BLRW, Blue and Black Orps, and Welsummers. We could do a large flat rate box and I will make sure that it is worth it. This way it wouldn't be a matter of quitting, but postponing.

Guys, I can't believe all the dreadful luck that so many sharks are having. Nat and Blessed in particular - gosh life is putting you through the wringer. My thoughts are with you

. It really makes me appreciate how fortunate we are when things are OK.

We have a regular chicken thief now (much rather it was wild life), but this is so trivial compared with that you guys re going through now.

Things can only get better surely??

Baby, you need to set you some booby-traps!!!!!! Do a quick net search, lots of idea's out there. Start by putting "posted" signs. Then a day or so later, set the traps. I'm not promoting violence here (although that's what I would do, but hey, that's just me), but there are lot's of different types of booby-traps that can be set that aren't violent, such as paint, ice water, that type of thing. Seriously, after a 2nd time, that's all it would take for me to get nasty about it.

Nat, I really wish we could go...but as of right now...there would be no way....How are broody mommy and the eggies doing?

I am pleased to announce that we have kits!! We can't handle them so from what we see...it looks to be about 7-9 of the nekkid babies....
