I have some sort of stomach virus today. If I eat anything, I get explosive diarrhea. It's really awful. So I had to cancel going to the barn and going out to dinner tonight. I hate being sick, so much time wasted.

well, since I had to put some eggs in the hatcher I decided to grab the 2 eggs that weren't pipped(the other two hatched), they were dead

. So I have 2 orps and both will probably be roos

.
I need some help. I hate writing emails to sellers of eggs to say nothing happened. Like nothing at all, no blood rings, nothing. Just perfectly floating round yolks after 10 days of incubation. This is the second batch and I paid for both, thought maybe the PO xray'd(even though my research indicates that even if they are xray'd it wouldn't cause any harm because the radiation is so minute). The only one that hatched from the first batch was a mix as they had a different roo in with the hens 3 weeks or so earlier. I knew it was a possibility but figured if I got some of each I didn't care but now I am thinking the roo they are with now isn't successfully mating as 13 out of 14 did nothing last batch and all 16(?) this time are the same. I want to know if the breeder has done a test hatch since the hens have been with this other roo but don't want to sound like a witch. I have already spent over $60 and nothing to show, not even a partially developed chick

. What is the best way to approach this situation?

I would talk to them straight up and tell them just what you told us. I would then ask them if they are willing to replace even a partial shipment of eggs. If they are from known tested eggs, they should be willing to accomodate.

As for my hatch, which will be on day 21 on Monday, includes
4 silver lace polish from Patty
6 button quail eggs (mine)
2 BCM from SachasMom??
3 OE sex linked f2 crossbacks from cottage garden
7 giant cochins, blue and splash from cottage garden
6 oe mixes from SashasMom??

and at this point all of the crested and cayugas seem to be developing. Man duck embryos are some swimmin little buggers! So fun to watch! I kinda lost track of which eggs came from where

day 19 for me with some eggs from monkeyingaround(?), they are a barred rock frizzled roo over 3 turken hens and a couple other hens. I didn't put them in the hatcher last night as I just wasn't in the mood. All the rest have hatched right on time or quit late. I was starting to think my brinsea wasn't so good. I walked by the bator this morning and out of the 6 in there(started with 8 but had two early quitters), 4 were pipped, one zipped and one nothing. So I grabbed them real quick, candled the one non pipped(still alive) and popped them in the bator. While I was moving them I called my daughter(14) and the one that zipped popped open and the way it was laying you could only see the naked neck. She asked what was wrong with it until it picked it's head up and she saw it was a NN(I got these cuz she asked for a NN), she squealed

Now it will be interesting to see if it's frizzled too. This batch definitely made me feel better. I have had so many late quitters etc that I thought it was me

I ended up with 3 of Imogene's b/b orps. The last died about a week ago, for some reason. Sorry, I meant the last out of 4 EGGS. I still have the 3 chicks.

Thats nice you surprised your daughter!

I think the heat down here is really affecting eggs' viability and shippability(sp?). Some breeds/strains really seem to ship better than other's, too.

Wanted to show off the development of some of my BLRW's... NICE red coming through on them.

Oops, the 4 month old cockeral, started calling him oops because of his straight comb. From BareGretchen Stock

Syrah, thinking he may still be a she, no hackle feathers and not the tail of her brother. Also from BareGretchen Stock

Dotte, the BLR pullet I did surgery on at birth due to a hernia...

The coloring on these birds shows amazing potential!!

Awww, quail chicks must be awful tiny! I did 2 hatches of bantams this year, and I can't say either one was good. Like each had 4 hatch out of a dozen.
