BTW in another box of mixed chicken eggs (meant to be double yolkers that did nothin, was an egg that did not hatch. Gave it to day 24. Zilch, so took it out and was about to bin it when I thought I should go back and candle it, (potential double yolker and all that) and it was moving so put it back and forgot about it until this hatched!!!!!!

Even DH thinks it is cute!
It is about a week old and is darker than in the pic, like dark chocolate brown with a cream bowtie.
Does anyone know what it is?

Really nice pics, everyone! A duck snuck in???? I just don't get it., LOL

Mushmouse went out to spend the night with her family. Last summer was great, it wasn't this hot. But this year stinks! It's been 94 every day and doesn't cool off till 9pm.

I'm watching the chickens next door for 6 days. These people are nice and animal lovers but all five of them don't equal a brain when it comes to chickens. Anyway, there's a wire fence between us, so I have to walk down to the road, and up his driveway into the back yard. Well, backsidehole locked the gate with a padlock! So I go around back to my yard, and get the ladder out to get over the fence. Won't work, so I go to get another ladder for the other side. Then I smack my head and think-here I am gonna break my neck because he locked the fence? So I got some wire cutters and cut an opening in the fence.

I go to bring the chickens water. He left me a watering can! For 12 chickens! He has a door to the pen and a door to the coop, both held closed by shovels. I'm surprised the guy can tie his own shoe laces.

But I have to say that they pulled into my driveway yesterday and gave me 3 heads of lettuce to give the chickens!
