OMG Nat, I have been looking for these for ages, and I knew you all the time!!! Nothing life "looking on your own doorstep" (is that saying too English to understand????). As they ship so badly (normal egg structure not intact - Yes eggs have A LOT of structure), if you start to incubate and they arrest development that would be totally AWESOME TOO.

I am officially on an egg hunt now!!! I have a broody with nothing under her- shes 4 days in and I was not going to let anymore chicks on my property! BUT.... If I get doubles want me to do half and half? Half incubated for a few days or more then half not???

Just tell DH your are participating in important reasearch! And then you can show him your name on the paper!

Forgive my ins and outs on the board today. My OCD has kicked in with a vengence and I am out in the coop with a shop vac.... thats right... a shop vac... someone shoot me. I just cant stand the dust anymore. I am letting the new ducklings play in the grass and swim. I have a sick little chick who has discovered a love for yogurt so I think she'll be fine. Or atleast I hope so. I know shes a pullet by her markings. I lost another Marans cross last night. I think some of it is heat stress even though I installed a fan. Not sure, poor little things. I wish I had more land. I'd be able to build them a big "free stall" styled coop with seperate indoor breeding pens. C'est la vie. I guess I need to win the lottery.

Here are pic of a "BLRW" pullet - please give me your opinions

I freely admit I don't know what is right or wrong. These just don't look like the others.

My opinion is that is NOT a BLRW at all, looks nothing like any i've seen. I've got straight comb, splash, blue laced red, black laced red and that looks like some sort of partridge... something... odd like a young partridge rock? very odd.

Well I have one of my BLRW from sterling sue in hospital. She has developed crook neck and it's a splash pullet

I've given her vitamins, dipped her beak in the avian charge and given her vitamin E. I have no selenium, will have to get some tomorrow. I also made her eat yogurt. I hope I can pull her out of this. She's been wormed and her legs and wings are fine so I'm positive it's not botulism. dam it!

why??? WHY??? and on a holiday weekend when my resources are limited....

I have to agree, the darker chick in the pullet pic looks like my speckled sussexes did as well. The blue looks like a BLRW

.

Sounds like a great plan, only I would incubate for at least 2 weeks. I would of course pay for the shipping, and am VERY happy to pay for the eggs as well. No reason you should be robbed of breakfast

I have 2 hens, one hetero and one homozygous mottled but they are blue..... they are someone else's project and I was going to work on it....I hatched them 2 years ago and never got a roo for them (for once I hatched 5 pullets). I am going to keep one of the blacks I have now and pen them up but can't take credit for them. I will try to get a pick of my blue mottled girl sometime soon. I was going to work on mille fleur but none of my bantam ameraucana hatched so not sure what I am going to do....
on another note, my opal oegb eggs are doing great, hoping at least one(of 3) is visual opal. I am supposed to pick up another coop monday with dh

What do you think of this bird? At 7 weeks, Do you think she'll get more, or it will molt out?

unfortunately I don't remember how mine developed(was 2 yrs ago) although it was definitely more yellow at hatch....
I don't know how it will develop, where did it come from? my mottle split has a couple flecks on her so I could tell her from a true blue. do you have a pic as a fuzzy chick?
black mottle looks similar to ancona as chicks...
here is mine

so incredibly tired. the family is out of town for the weekend and I use this time to clean and repaint. literally 2 garbage bags of trash from the kids room. they save everything from wrappers to the box anything came in and if it's broken, they still keep it. in frustration, I yelled out, "do they have to save every wrapper, piece of trash and every box." I look over on the kid's bed, there is the magic 8 ball with a message- it says (I kid you not) "it looks certain"
I burst out laughing.
thankfully this weekend I got the room repainted (new color) with stripes even- crazy me! detached the bunk beds so I don't have to hear- he woke me up! again and cleaned the room.
2 bags for the trash man, 1 for goodwill.

I want to paint downstairs but I have a feeling it may not happen. stayed up too late last night, dog had diarrhea in the night, so early morning laundry, never did get that nap in I promised myself. gang is returning tomorrow so I still have a few hours if I can get the energy to finish the spackle sanding /painting (spackling has been done for 5 month, pretty well set by now)
and in the middle of all that, made a memorial stone (last of 3 ordered)
phew- I need a break!
