My Spec Sus, Henrietta, went broody. I have had serious problems trying to integrate any bantam into the flock, so gave her 6 bantam cochin eggs to sit. 3 hatched - I honestly think it was too hot and the others fried. Anyway, she has these 3 teeny-tiny chicks, and when I let her out of her enclosure in the coop, I expect she will defend them with gusto. So I'm hoping these little guys can be put out with the big girls because Henrietta will kick the butt of anyone who messes with them. Henrietta is a force to be reckoned with. Think of Flight of the Valkyries chicken style. Metal brassiere, horned helmet, the whole bit. That is Henrietta. Tough girl.

yah me too:) except mine was an emotional flash! cried a few hard minutes now smiling again! I'll confess-I went off my happy pills. Its been 10 days-I needed to do it. I was sick of relying on something that calmed me down and didnt allow me to speak my mind. So If you havent noticed Ive been a little hostile in the past week or so. LOL

Yea, me and my friend's father call zoloft our "I don't give a $hit pills" Ain't that the truth. If I didn't take mine, I'd be hiding under the table and never come out-too much stimulation. No wonder me and my horse get along so well, she suffers from being easily overstimulated too! Hmmm, lightbulb moment.

I seem to be better than any other time Ive tried to go off the pills--this time is easier--I think its because I have let go of alot of emotional junk that was just Hiding underneath-finally!-they were dont give a Shi% pills! I still do lunesta:)

aw lovings! I have no idea-but I hope she comes back to you-can you hear her? her favorite treaties???

I had a really great swap today- moved alot of birds. but here is my delemia. I sold a bird to a woman and guaranteed it was a pullet or she could return it. I figured I'd give her her money back. so bird is 4 months old when it leaves, it crowed so she returned it to me at a swap.. yes it's a roo- oh well.
here is the problem, she wants another marans and I hatched that one from eggs I purchased here. I don't have any female marans, all of mine are roos and won't be staying and I have no real plans to hatch any more. she didn't want her money back just a replacement next spring. I explained that all of my marans were with me at the swap, she could choose but none were sexed or she could take the sussex pullet, no. so what would you do? I really just want to give her her money back and be done. she can only have 6 hens and now has 9, she doesn't need another. I don't have her address so I can't just mail her a check.
ok, tell what to do here.

hmm she wants a bird by Spring? You dont think youll hatch anymore-Spring is a ways away-Id say keep one of the pullets you offered her-let it grow out and give it to her in Spring. I never gaurantee what type of hen in return if a roo. It's what I have or nothing or refund:) Tell her your sorry and just dont tell people youll trade with the exact type of bird...just in case. I ve had swap out birds for roosters and they were happy with any pullet I had...Maybe youll get lucky and wind up trading for a marans pullet by Spring?

I really thought I sold her a hen, it was 4 months old when she got it. I totally expected to give her a refund not another bird. she even picked up another at the swap so she has 10 and can only have 6-

I may have to hatch some more marans as all of mine ended up being boys.
unless she will take a blr- which she already has 2 of mine- scratch that, 1- the others got killed. but she didn't want any I had with me yesterday- too young and I'm not selling any of my POL for what she paid for that hen/roo.

The others got killed?

You already told her you aren't planning on hatching more marans? Right? You told her that?

So you can give her her money back and she will have to look for her own replacement. She is being lazy and trying to make you give her the replacement, which I guess she might expect from the sound of it - however, if you are not planning on hatching any more and you told her that, and she didn't want anything you had with you, AND she didn't want her money back - she is bullying you. Give her her money back and take Nat's advice in the future. You have nice birds. I wouldn't have a problem running off with another of your BLRW.

OR - If she didn't want another one of your lovely birds, let HER buy the 1-2 dozen eggs (minus what she paid for the 'pullet') and then act as her hatching service. She pays you to hatch with $ or with the rest of the birds you can sell in the future, if you so choose. Were the marans hard to hatch?
