Hey, I was pre-vet at A&M for one year and decided it was a strange place! Didn't fit in at all. Chewing tobacco in the water fountains instead of gum. I'm a University of TX grad!

Yeah. Enough of that at CSU, but if you are in NM it's the only financially feasible option. The WICHE program allows for a certain number of NM vet students a year, and you only pay in-state tuition which is still a fortune. New vets are coming out of school owing more than 100,000 in loans. Then everybody expects you to be James Herriot and donate you services for free. Once again, sorry for the rant.

I will be out of sight for a bit. apparantly I've been sick for a while and have lost 1/2 of my blood volume. they kept me over night at the hospital looking the cause, nothing found, sent me home to eat for one day and going back in the morning for more tests. I got to the point I couldn't climb 12 stairs without being out of breath, well this explains why. hopefully they can find the cause and I will be back soon. wish me luck.

There was no ocular with this bird, he ate up til the end but lost weight. Lost one leg's use, the other one just got weak. Wings werent paralyzed either. I have kicked botulism before, I dont think it was Botulism. I truly think latent mareks or triple E. I think latent mareks. Correct me if I'm wrong but that means NONE of my current birds, even old ones can be sold right? This bird was one of the Sterling Sue birds. We had insane mosquito issues. It's a wait and see, but I am so crushed by all this.

In what I've read, most chickens have either been exposed or have been immunized. I think you should do some reading on it, there's plenty of info on the net. With EEE they can't pass it, mosquitos pass it, but you know that.
I hate that it's just a big guessing game when a chicken is sick. Alot of symptoms are vague. Maybe with this big chicken movement in the last few years, there will finally be some research. But it seems like so far, the only concern for chickens is getting them to live till they get eaten, not what happens when they grow older.
