Shavings vs. Automatic door

I can't see by the picture how much space you have to work with inside the coop but if there is space and its something you like to do you can build a bedding retaining wall (brick wood what ever you have) around the door so there there are no wood chips around the door. some will still get over the wall and from time to time you will have to clean it up a bit but the door won't get jammed with the bedding. Others have offered solutions that are probably better than that but I have put in a few bricks in a few places to retain bedding because I can do it in a few seconds rather than break out the tools and do real work. Yes I am that lazy sometimes.

Using bricks isn't a bad idea at all. I use bricks for various things in the run, and have a pile of them sitting just outside. Sometimes lazy can also be clever!

In my case a line of bricks would've been a bit longer than would be stable, since I was trying to keep bedding in at the human door. But for a pop door, assuming there's space for it, I don't see why you couldn't try it.

I use brick for so many things too. or concrete blocks etc. when raccoons were outsmarting my locks on coop doors I started using concrete blocks in front of doors. They can beat my mind but they can't beat my braun lol. Moving heavy blocks every morning helps to wake me up too, gets the blood flowing.
