Haylee has learned how to play us. (Or train us in Bob speak).

She knows if she asks to go outside to potty we will move heaven and earth to get her out the door.

She is good at asking to go. No accidents in quite a while (knocking on wood).

She asked to go out this morning. I was skeptical as she had went not too long before. The WW was in the bathroom trying to beautify herself ( another hopeless cause) for a trip to town.

We have a house full of baby gates to keep Haylee near us and away from Pearl. Pearl has been ill and is a tad grumpy ( think Bob :lau :lau ) around Haylee. Haylee is constantly jumping on Pearl and biting her ears and face, so we don’t blame her for being grumpy.

When we open the gate to our bedroom from the living room, (our old house has a circle floor plan) Haylee goes through our bedroom, the laundry room past the bedroom to the back door. If she needs to go outside she sits at the door. If she just wanted to harass Pearl she continues through the entry, the kitchen and into the dining room where Pearl had her bed.

I thought maybe she just wanted to be near the WW. I opened the gate, Haylee ran through the bedroom, past the bathroom and sat impatiently at the door. I put her leash on ( if she doesn’t have a leash on it means a catch me if you can game starts) and walk her outside. She was so impatient I figured she needed to go badly.
So, I did not put on winter outerwear, it’s only 10 below so not all that cold. I went out in light sweat pants, tee shirt and slippers.

Haylee peed, a few drops, then started sniftering out leafs buried under the snow. She made no attempt to poop or pee more. I kept trying to get her to go more.

More sniff and dig games. After about 10 minutes I was getting cold. My knuckles were burning. I told her we were going in. She refused and I was dragging her on all fours.

Then she started acting like she was finding a pooping place, only to dig out a leaf. After about the third leaf, I just drug her towards the door.

I was not going to have this battle at this time in 10 below temps without proper clothing. Then I saw it!

The WW has a Shepard’s hook for her pretty weeds on the edge of the deck. A perfect place to hang the leash.

I hung the leash, went inside and Haylee got to sit out and be obstinate.

She was out there about 3 minutes. Just after I snapped the photo through the window of her being a little bellybutton, the UPS guy showed up. Haylee ran to him and got her leash wrapped around him. The WW went to the door to save the UPS guy.

I heard this:

WW: I am sorry, I will get her.

UPS: that’s okay, she’s cute

WW: thanks, let me take that, (I assume she took the package)

UPS: How old is she? Don’t you think she is kind of young to be tied out here by herself?

WW: She was refusing to come inside

UPS: You have to be careful in this cold with these little ones..

WW: Sure Do. Bye.

We are expecting the humane society to visit this afternoon.
