Sorry, I can't see a foot under the bill. Usually a foot will be up over the top of the head. Normally under the bill is the back of their neck.

Ok I see how that's layed out. Well maybe I'm wrong, looked like a web though. All still chewing away happily in there.

I've had a couple chicks do that....and the little female goose almost did.. got her back in the bator just in time...

I'm not sure how to tell when the vessels are done and I can do more? They are feeling dry and hard even with the oil.

The vessels will almost disappear. Most of them. But there will still be some residual ones.
If you gradually chip more shell off the bottom side of the air cell end, you can sometimes see how bold the blood still is. I can usually find a clear area of membrane to split and fold back around the shell, kinda like a bag in your trash can type thing.
