Shaws call duck incubation thread (hatch a wonderful(worthless to Ralphie) dux thread)

Well nothing hatched over night. :hit

I stayed up late watching them and ended up opening 2 that pipped earliest. Now I've enlarged safety holes on all the others. Each one is peeping and chewing with lots of red veins.

I oiled membranes and there they sit. Are they going to be ok? What should I do now? Break up some chicken eggs and recap them? 36 hours since internal pip for some of these.

They cried when I took it out to clean the poop off. :hmm
And seem scared of me.

Such a beautiful baby! :love

This evening Lexi had the babies out in the yard. When they went back, 2 went to the wrong side of the gate and couldn't figure out their way back around. I grabbed them, and good thing Lexi was on the other side of the fence, or my face would be missing! :lau

Mr T :love
Oh goodness..:lau I'm glad you got em and didn'tget mauled by Lexi...:hugs
It is! :celebrate I want a new one...:fl
What a day.
I didn't even tell you all one of the Cayuga babies got away from me out in the building and I about killed myself catching it. It went under the work bench where it's all nasty and gross . and I forgot the tin wall isn't finished behind there. Omg I just knew it was going to go in the wall and I was going to have to start tearing the place apart. This was all before my meeting. . I was covered in cobwebs and duck poo and grime before it was over.
Now my shoulder hurts.
THEN apparently I left the gate un latched to Howard and the girls fence when I put them up.. So I was greeted by them out and about when I got home. :ththank goodness nothing happened to them.
I am going to hit the pillow and pass out now. :frow

Good luck Sofie burd :fl
Omg... you really had a rough day! I hope you managed to sleep some!:fl

Thank you! So just let them rest, no stretching membranes etc yet?

They seem content enough so I guess I'll try to be also.

Now I can see and hear them so I want them to make it even more. Also they are so cute in there! They all peep when I talk to them.
Oh I know... it was so hard to watch these. And the peeping ...omg, so sweet! :love
Just hang in there. As long as they're just peeping and don't sound agitated, leave em be for now... WV or Pyxis or Ravyn will be along and advise more. I haven't done calls so I'm not 100% sure when you need to do more. But they look good at the moment. :hugs

I don't think a turkey egg would fit in The Turner would it?

I laid a royal palm egg in mine and it seemed just fine. Didn't use it, was hand turning, but it did seem to fit in the thing ok.

I would say so. . but let's ask @WVduckchick and @Ravynscroft
Maybe one of them is still up.

Sorry, was down for the count. :D

Good job. Just be patient now. You can see they are alive, that's the hard part not knowing.
The crucial part now is getting the bill and the head clear of membrane. It will stick, and is worse to pull off later.
If you can't stretch the membrane in those spots, try the oiled qtip up under the membrane, just to ever-so-lightly pull it away from the nares and eyes (usually just the right eye is in the zone)
