Shaws call duck incubation thread (hatch a wonderful(worthless to Ralphie) dux thread)

Well, the drama with my friend's Call ducks continues.

We know for sure they're appleyard, there is no question. I poked the seller about it for her today - the seller had posted pictures of the ducks she sent my friend on her farm page right before she shipped them.

I went and commented on the pictures saying I didn't know they sold appleyards, and do they ever sell hatching eggs? Then I sent a message saying the same thing.

She responded to my message and said they DO have appleyards but are out for the season and to check back in the Fall, but insisted the ones in the picture were snowy. I said, oh, I thought they were appleyard because the hen has an eye stripe and a snowy cannot have an eye stripe, it's genetically impossible.

She saw it but no reply.

My friend bounced off my post on the pictures to post the first duckling she hatched. And I replied saying it was a super cute appleyard duckling. To which she of course said, uh, I was told these birds were snowy? And then I said no way is that duckling snowy.

So then she posted her pair to a Call breeders group and they've all come back saying they're appleyard (and someone said butterscotch, but anyway, consensus is they are NOT snowy).

So my friend messages the breeder. Who keeps swearing up and down that they're snowy, doesn't want to talk about it over messenger (where there will be written proof) and instead wants my friend to call etc etc. My friend even gave them an out and said hey, mistakes happen, did you maybe send me a pair of appleyards by mistake?

To which they then say they haven't had appleyards in two years. But somehow they will have some available in the Fall for me to purchase from them?

So now they're straight up lying. All my friends wanted was to know for sure what they are and maybe get a refund because they're the wrong thing. Instead, the seller has dug their heels in, refuses to admit they were wrong, and are now lying to her.
