Shaws call duck incubation thread (hatch a wonderful(worthless to Ralphie) dux thread)

I'm not a duck person, but with chicken eggs, I've had some air cells that just won't draw down in an incubator with others that are drawn down normally and I just can't reduce humidity or I risk the normal ones... In every case but one, the chicks with the small air cells did fine. In the one case where the chick didn't make it, if I had been paying closer attention, I could have saved it.
Guess what I'm trying to say is that your eggs are probably going to do fine. :)
It just makes me nervous cause this is the one who's eggs tend to die in the shell right at hatch time. I think they just don't have enough room in there to peck out with those tiny bills.

It's not so much the smallness of the bills as it is the shortness of the necks... not much you can really do at this stage, besides the mama factor anyways...

Fake Eilleen.... As much as I hate to see a DUX hatch into this world and pollute my air and water.....I hate to see you cry worse... So

Do not worry about the eggs under a broody. Sometimes when you (I assume a human being) think a hen goes broody and starts sitting is not the same day they actually do. They may have some false starts.....maybe they are just thinking about sitting... who knows..

It could be their internal temps have not risen enough, there is a multitude of reasons the Duxlings could hatch later than you think..

Go back into the house, grab your gitfiddle and write a new song or two.. dedicated to moi.......

What will be will be..... relax and have a beer....
