When an early embryo quits (at this point it is an enlarged artery as a heart and a few veins) the veins break down quickly, dissolving away... leaving the blood to pool into a ring... thus, bloodring...
Is it fairly common to have several quitters? Or do you think my temp or humidity could be wonkey?

Well. . I got good news and bad news. Day 10 . . three more bad eggs. So down to 11. View attachment 1309702 View attachment 1309703 View attachment 1309705 I guess they just quit. . ? Veins were fine the other day. View attachment 1309710 good egg. . but what's with that weird circle in air cell? View attachment 1309711 good egg. . lots of movement. View attachment 1309714 so here are where my air cells are. View attachment 1309715 and here is my humidity.
@WVduckchick
And everyone else. . comment away please.

Good job! I see your gloves lol!
Bummer on the quitters, but yea, it happens. Air cells look good to me for day 10. Humidity good. I'm sure your house is above 57, so I'd say that's a fluke. But dint think I'd trust that one from now on.

Since we're talking bloodrings, I removed these tonight. Shipped eggs, post office did a real number on them, I'm surprised I do have a few developing.
First is a cream legbar bloodring, second is a royal palm turkey. That's the air cell is on the side.

Ya. Forget anything digital! Unreliable! There is no way it got down to 57.

Blood rings! Boooo!

Omg you guys. . I left an egg out of the incubator :he:he:he:he
I thought to take that pic of all the air cells and guess that thought derailed my thought process. . and I took the pic and forgot an egg. :th
Popped it back in surely it will be ok.

Almost definitely fine. I've forgotten goose eggs out when letting them cool before for something like an hour and a half. Heck, I once hatched an egg after a broody got off it and it sat out with no heat for over 24 hours.

What she said...

Some really knock the analog thermometers, but I actually LOVE them... ones meant for reptiles last much longer and better than digital and have been spot on accurate for me... but always keep a backup, when those ones go they just flatline...

Sucks, but that is a good pic of a bloodring in the Legbar egg... also outlines exactly where the CAM had reached before it quit...

That reminds me, I think I saw Friday kicking around a turkey egg...

I got sitting here thinking about Jana asking how many I had left. . and then remembered I had two even rows. . um wait 11 is an uneven number. .
And there it was still in the floor on the paper towel on top of the blanket I had used for cushion.
Come to think of it I think my cat was laying there earlier! :gigit didn't feel totally cold so maybe grissom kept it warm :lau
