Shaws call duck incubation thread (hatch a wonderful(worthless to Ralphie) dux thread)

CLR is safe or are you trying to exterminate again?

The lack of trust you DUX peeples show me is so hurtful......

I use the CLR to clean things and I rinse or wipe them down really well afterwards.

I doubt anything that rips off the scum, rust and lime build up the way CLR does can be save for anything....

I wear latex gloves when working with it..(Does this surprise any of you?) I use latex glove for everything I touch almost....

Some one as sweet as me has to be careful because I melt so easy......

I did learn something from you DUxxers....... Sort of. I decided to not use my plastic hatching trays for this hatch of turkeys. They seem to be hatching just fine. I only had a dozen eggs so I just rolled them into the hatcher like marbles....and they hatched.

I have not hatched enough to experience this yet. . so I will take precautions to keep it clean :)
I do love that my new one is all plastic and I feel like I can know that it's clean. Styrofoam seems to me like it would hold on to bacteria down in it.

As long as your just hatching DUX, I cannot see where a little bacteria could hurt.

Can anyone offer an opinion of my geese aircells? 21 days. Hard to get pics when they are filling up.

I got a scale to weigh these but they were too heavy for it and I didn't have time to wait for a different one. So visual it is. Also I'm not sure how many days these guys incubate for so I'm just assuming 28 days.

I had a bad egg burst in a styrofoam bator years ago. Smelled forever more. I'm loving the plastic too. I'll be able to easily clean the turkey out after they hatch. :tongue

Oh man!!! this hurts........

I was being nice too.....I did not ask how you can tell a good DUX egg from a bad one??Or if there is really a difference and I didn't......

This morning in my basement...

Well. . I know exactly 0 about geese eggs. . but I would think it would be about the same as duck. . that looks pretty good size to me for day 21. I bet they are doing just fine :)
