Striped bass eat them. The fly I caught the fish with vaguely resembles a sand eel.Okay, yeah, whatever! You just lost me!![]()
I’d be weary if I came up on something looking like that little fly IRL. Afraid it packed a good punch of a sting. These are pictures from this past fall. I like to fish for bass with small flies and small rods. I do use big flies but only when I’m tired of catching bluegills. Bluegills are a lot of fun on a fly rod though. Most of them fight harder than a bass of equal size.

Nah they’re harmless and little. The only thing you have to worry about here is bluefish. They’ll bite your finger clean off. 9 times out of 10 they just take my flies and a length of line. Apparently they don’t appreciate hand made goods.
Good lord! Reminds me of one of my new pullets. D@mn thing has the neck of an owl and will nail me in a split second, no matter how hard I try to steer clear. I can just be petting the cockerel beside her and I’m bait. She is sooooo close toNah they’re harmless and little. The only thing you have to worry about here is bluefish. Seriously though they’re dangerous and will keep trying to bite you when removing a hook.
I feel very ‘Upstairs Downton Abby” when I pronounce it croppy.Yes, and even though it isn’t pronounced as it appears, in my head I say “crappie” but when I speak it I say “croppie.” Old habits are hard to break. Crap is CRAP, not CROP. Just saying.![]()
That is the only way I have ever heard it pronounced.I feel very ‘Upstairs Downton Abby” when I pronounce it croppy.![]()
