Hows come no one ever cares enough to tell me to go to bed?
I obviously need to be told.![]()

Hey I can totally relate to your point of view. Especially learning to post on BYC and being mindful that it is a 24 hour web site. That’s good, for example I stayed up late last night giving support in real time to someone faced with an assisted hatch of Maran eggs. On the other hand, it’s not so good if some people are in the middle of sleeping and don’t need notifications that I’ve got insomnia again and am posting stuff in the middle of the night out of boredom.I used to be a night owl of sorts when my boys were younger and usually went to bed by midnight. Usually there were things I had to get done before I could lay down. I still got up at 5:30 to get myself and them ready. As they got older it took me longer to make sure they just got OUT OF BED.
But when I moved to where I am now, I moved from the western most part of the ET zone to the eastern most part of the CT zone. Now don’t wrinkle your brow, just think about it. Sunset for me now is much earlier than just the hour setback of switching time zones and I hate it! (However, sunrise in the spring and summer is much earlier - generally around 5 am, and I love it.) Also, my old house had a ‘party’ backyard with pool and lights so it was fun staying outside after dark. My current house has a ‘farm only’ backyard. Everything is fed and put up or out, depending on the animal, before dark. Well, except for the dang ducks, that is. And I’m sooooo far out that there is no light pollution. If it weren’t for the security light it would be pitch black. The stars are beautiful here!
Anyway, I guess I said all that to say I generally go to bed much earlier now days, but I rise much earlier too. And, in the heat of the summer, it is so nice to take advantage of the early sunrise to get things done in the garden or just the yard in general. The sweat is still there, but the air is not as suffocating.
