I’ve been tying them for about 17 yrs. I have many thousands of flies laying around. Most are tied with feathers, fur and synthetics. Most of those bigger flies are for saltwater. The synthetics don’t absorb water so you can cast them easily without being heavy. I tie flies for some people here and there and donate some to worthy causes.
Yes some dry flies are made solely from feathers and thread. Most still have some fur too though.

Interesting all the things I don’t know.

I’m glad there isn’t a camera hovering around my back yard. Just last night going to lock the ducks up, carrying a gallon of water and an open container of cat food, stepped on the cat’s tail and fell, but dang if I didn’t hang onto that water and cat food. Just call me Grace!

I feel like a lot of these are from infomercials which they make sooooo ridiculous lol like no one is that dumb and my parents apparently almost named me Grace LOL

It’s really not that hard to tie them. It’s more difficult to get them consistent looking from fly to fly but fish don’t care about that. Pretty flies catch people not fish.
I don’t watch much tv and most of the time when I’m screwing around on here I’m twirling feathers too.

For example,
After years of despising the task of placing each piece of silverware in the holder one at a time like a normal person...
I have decided to go rogue!

Yes this is silly, but isn't it a perfect example of how we get stuck in our own heads thinking we have to do things a certain way when we absolutely do not have to.
