Here is one video of the crappies on red lake, but I didn’t see any real big ones.

Should have a disclaimer on that pic....'objects may appear bigger than actual size'. Holding the crappie away from his body gives the illusion of being bigger! it's closer to the lens! :old

Yea, I know, I hated that part too. They are nice enough fish without cheating like that. I assume they are Southies.

“Weiss Lake is known as The crappie capitol of the world.” :lau I know I’m mentally like 10yrs old, but does this sound funny to anyone else?:gig
Yes, and even though it isn’t pronounced as it appears, in my head I say “crappie” but when I speak it I say “croppie.” Old habits are hard to break. Crap is CRAP, not CROP. Just saying. :lau

As far as eating goes, I would rather eat a carp than a crappie.

Ralphie, I have a few questions:

How in the world do you drive when all you can see is white? I saw no other color in the environment other than white.

How do you keep your bearings when there’s no reference points to be seen?

Once you dig your hole, do you mark it in any way so the next fisherman does not accidentally step in it OR drill too close to it causing a weakened area in/on the ice to a person and/or vehicle?

What is the draw for fishing when you have to lug something other than your rod and reel, bait/lures, and possibly a bucket for your catch? An auger, for real?

Don’t ice fisherman also set up a little hut to block the elements?

I’m still in awe at not being able to see anything other than white, a wall of white! Yes, I lived in Massachusetts and Alaska, but as a kid, and I didn’t pay attention to all the daily “obstacles.” Snow was fun as a kid, but it is WORK as an adult.

To me, cold is a hindrance. I am not a fan of any weather where I can’t just slip on a pair of flip flops and go outside. It’s just a hassle to have to bundle up with five layers of “can’t move!”

Sorry, Mimi.:hugs I didn’t see you actually lived there. I was laughing at the google sheet you posted, not at you.
Lord help, no worries there! If you had laughed at me you wouldn’t be the first. I’m sure my boys, now grown men, laugh at me weekly! :lau I’ve even laughed at myself many times. (Mostly just cuss at myself, though.)

We moved here in 2008 and not for the lake. It is a man made lake where the farms and countryside were flooded. A very sad story to read about.
