You wouldn’t happen to know about what time they start crowing? I keep finding different answers online.Redness, & larger size are usually signs of a cockerel.
Yeah. My Dominique’s and my barred rocks had vibrant ones as well. I was convinced she was a girl until the hackle feathers, the redness in her wings, and her tail feathers. She’s just so different from her two sistersI had a hen with a peacomb everyone was sure was a cockerel. Her comb was huge and red by this age but she turned out to be a she and gives me nice eggs. I've had lots of pullets get bright red combs early, especially in the heat of summer.![]()
It varies. Some crow as early as 3 weeks, or 12 weeks. Some start crowing between 5-6 months, which is usually average. You wouldn’t happen to know about what time they start crowing? I keep finding different answers online.

Oh she’s gorgeous! I see what you mean. I just figured it would be my luck that after I decided against having a rooster, one would be one. My Easter eggers are my favorites. They’re so beautifulThis is the one I was told was a boy because of how red the comb is. But nope. She lays nice blue eggs and is honestly one of the prettier hens I have.
I'm thinking cockerel based on comb size, & color.
I agree with both points3 rows peas, isn't very accurate for sexing with pea combs.
