She cant walk, acts like shes drunk

Hmm, we had a new horse come in mid-jan. Pullets came in from rural king around the first Feb. I had one chicken break her leg. She was in the coop for a week before the pullets came in. This girl wasn't limping until maybe end of Feb. Im trying to remember the timeline...
Ok, were the pullets vaccinated for anything?
I assume your girl was no correct?
What I have so far is not much.
What comes up on many searches is:

Alright, I might have uncovered a little more. It turns out this lady I bought the hens from had a flock of MS positive birds. She said these were from the "clean" flock and were not affected. I should have passed on the birds since she had MS on the farm. Do you guys think this girl is a carrier and is just now showing signs? If so then none of these birds will ever leave the farm.
Also, I have two ducks sitting on eggs. Do you think they will be affected? I had planned on selling the ducklings.

I asked and she did not vaccinate the chicks. The hens were purchased from Rural King and I dont believe they vaccinate either.

With MS you would see more traditional lameness and some joint swelling and the comb would be more purple and perhaps some respiratory issues.
My money is still on Marek's. That uncoordinated floundering when they try to walk is pretty typical of Marek's.... you didn't do the bird any favours by putting it on a slippy floor surface though. It is caused by a numbness and being unable to control the limb rather than normal lameness which is the deliberate favouring of one limb due to pain in the other. Being bright eyed and red in the comb is also more like Marek's in my experience of dealing with it. Only in the final stages, where they lose interest in food, do they start to look sick.

yeah, I know. after I took that video I put her on a towel to take another one but she refused to walk after that like that was all she had to give. I'm going to try to take another one tonight and see if there is any improvement.

Well, shes still alive. Shes eating and drinking, still acting like she has no balance tho. She moves around the basket and is alert and talkative. Praying that she pulls thru this. If I have any dead ones I plan on sending them off for a necropsy. I'll keep you all up dated on her progress.

Just curious, did she inform you of this before you took them home? Or is this just recently discovered?
I have no experience with MS(nor do I know much about it at all)

It might help to put her in a sling for a while.

I know someone who did that & gave her hen physical therapy by taking her out of the sling 2-3 times a day & holding her a little above the ground so that she could practice putting weight on the leg & walking while supporting her.

That hen still had a limp, but she survived & lived for several more years.
Hope yours gets better!

no, I didnt find out until after I got everyone home and about a month went by. That was in Dec, I believe. I saw a post about her selling her MS positive flock and I freaked. She said this was the "clean" flock and that they had always been separate.

Hmm, I might try that. She is a lot more active and eats more when I mess with her. She would probably like to be up in a sling. Im going to have to research this and see what she does. She is very interested in her surroundings and is still eating and drinking with gusto.

Is there anything I can feed her to help her put on weight? I gave her scrambled eggs this morning and she didnt like them lol
