she can't walk - SAD UPDATE - We lost Blueberry this afternoon

Well, we haven't turned the corner yet, but Blueberry's holding her own. I think she may be sitting up a little better, but she's not standing or walking.
I got some baby parrot food today and gave her a good feeding with that. I'm continuing the Duramycen and vitamins and we're just holding on until Monday.
She's more alert than she was the other day and I'm still hopeful we can get this cured.
MotherHen, I'm so happy for you and Chiclet

"Ignorance is bliss" ? My first hen, a RIR, lived for 11 years, gave me an egg a day for 10. Henny-Penny was a nice little hen. I never knew about BYC nor all the problems some chickens suffer. She just took a nap in the sun her last day, she seemed to be happy & content. I buried her in my rock garden.

Well the antibiotics must be helping

I saw him standing in their pen this morning!! and when I went to feed them last nights scraps, he was right there waiting with the girls

He was still a little wobbly but no way near as bad

But I now have a sick 5 week old hen

brought her back inside and back in the brooder, hopefully she just needs a rest

Blueberry actually seems to be doing a little better today. She's still not standing, but she's sitting a little better and she's much more alert than she was.
I've been feeding her the baby parrot food that I got at the pet store and I'm still giving her the Duramycen as her only water source. I've was able to get about 6 oz. of liquid into her yesterday. I hope that's enough. I think one of the problems I was having was that she got a little dehydrated before I brought her inside. The baby food also is pretty liquidy and I get about an ounce into her every couple of hours. I added ground up tums and vitamin E to her food again today to keep up with the vitamins, especially since MotherHen's Chiclet seems to be recovering with that regimen. I think delaying bringing her inside may have also delayed her progress with getting through this.
Anyway, I'm confident she's going to make through tomorrow to get to the vet. I'll let you all know what the vet says and keep you updated on her progress.

Sadly, we lost Blueberry this afternoon. She seemed to be doing so much better when I posted this morning. But, this afternoon I went down to check on her and she was gone. It looked like she had some type of seizure because she was on the other side of the cage and it looked like she had kicked out a lot of the shavings. I don't know what happened, or what was wrong with her.
We haven't told my granddaughter yet. She'll be heartbroken. With only 3 chickens I think it's even harder when you lose one. The other 2 girls are fine and showing no signs of any problems, so I think whatever it was either was not communicable or the other 2 have a resistance to it.
Anyway, DH wants to get at least one (preferably 2) more chickens so Chocolate and Rainbow won't be too lonely and so they can keep each other warm this winter. So, I'll be looking for a couple more. If anyone knows where I can locate 1 or 2 young chickens (6-9 mos prefereably) I'd appreciate a referral.
Thank you again to everyone who posted with advice and encouragement. It really meant a lot and at least I feel I did everything I could for Blueberry. It just wasn't meant to be.
BYC and all the forum members here are so great. I couldn't ask for a better support system when there is a need. I only hope that as I get more experience and knowledge, I can help someone else the way all of you have helped me.

So sorry for your loss. I've been reading your thread over the past few weeks. I have my own sick bird, so was looking for answers. Unfortunately, my bird will probably also die today. She has been fighting and fighting for weeks, and recovering and relapsing. It's so hard when you have a small flock. Each bird matters so much. Again,

Sorry to hear about Blueberry

My Rooster is still wobbly, will give him another jab of antibiotics tonight I think.
And he's having to come to terms with the new Rooster.
Poor sod.
