SHe died after 5 weeks of treatment and was doing so much better. She had a VIP treatment, in my living room, infront of the sliding doors were the others would come to visit her. (outside).
It looked like she was going to make it even yesterday when she talked to me and held her little head tilted and listend.
But this morning she is sitting stil and did not want her treats anymore.

Not sure if she had Marek's. Had her in our living room on a large towel and got her back on her feet again. Although she never walked a lot. But came from totally paralized back to walking hobling about 10 feet. She stood always a little strange upright like a penguin. But brave as she was, totally trusted me. gave her polivisol, yogurt vitamin E and later a 5 day sulphur treatment ( first suspected cocci) later treated with 5 day prednisone improved a lot but went downhill after that. She had an infection on her earlobe, treated with polysporen and low antibiotic.
So not sure what killed her, the disease or the treatment. I feel realy down today. Had her walking and talking to me and now it is over. Was it Marek's what did I do wrong? Could it have been multiple strokes. She had a curled foot and droopy wing but withthe prednisone it was gone. then, one week later, she can hardly walk again, We have no avian vet on the island.

Yak, I feel terrible but greatful for all the good advise and being part of this forum to share.. I hope I get over it soon.
thanks for the support.

I wish I had some useful advice for you. I am so sorry for the loss, you did your best, don't beat yourself up.

So sorry to read of your loss. I know how hard it is when you work so hard to have a pet. It is almost like more of your heart goes into it. At least when she did not feel well, she was taken care of and felt safe and secure. You did a good thing.

you tried your best sometimes they just dont make it. If another comes down with Mareks symptoms I would not do any steroids but maybe try st. Johns wart (check out moodyschicken's post on Mareks). What made you try the predesone? Did you stop the predesone all at once or did you taper off? I used it for head damage my silkie got but it was an extreme case and I would not recomend it normally, it is also hard on the immune system. I had a chicken ho lived with Mareks for a long time but eventually had to be culled as it got worse after getting better and I no longer thought it was having any quality of life.

So sorry for your loss.
