She is supposed to be a Black Copper Marans....

But her back feathers don't seem to be the correct coloring. She is 14 weeks old.
Any guesses?

BCM have feathered feet. That's one way you can make sure you get the correct chicks.

They are selling midnight majesty Marans now at feedstores - only half of those have feathered feet - I hear tell those are a Barred rock cross or something? Unknown how the hatchery makes it.

So you could think you're picking out a BCM and get one of those by mistake, or a black Cochin, but feathered feet are a good thing to look for, and also straight comb on a totally black chicks. Your bird as a chick had neither straight comb nor feathered feet.

I thought only the French Black Copper Marans have feathered feet?
 
Will her brown coloring increase on her body? I've looked at 14 week old and she really only has small stripes of golden coloring at the middle of her feathers and a small amount of copper going towards the edges. Also her underfeathers are gray.
