So so so so so so so so happy! I've been waiting for this ever since she was sixteen weeks! She only started squatting a few days ago, too! She's been through so much- racoon attacks, hawk attacks, dogs, bullies, and all of that, and I'm so happy she made it out of pullet-hood. My sweet baby girl is now a hen.

Here's her egg- the little white one, right next to our only other layer, a 'retired' red sex link!

I GOT AN EGG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I can't belive she waited to be 33 weeks!

Oh, and even though it's her first, it's the same size as the eggs we got at the grocery store, that are 'large'. Sad that since those hens are in such bad living conditions, they think those eggs are 'large'.

Congratulations, she can lay.

But 33 weeks seems like a very long time for a hen to begin laying. That hen is really going to have to lay a lot of eggs to earn the name leghorn.
