She said/He said Who's right? Who's wrong? No one!

So sorry for you. :hit  I bought eggs from Ebay - the ultimate Buyer Beware Site.   They were suppose to be SKY blue like a Tiffany blue box, her picture was exactly what I wanted.  The hens were blue, black splash -I really wanted lavender but the egg color was totally on the money so didn't care about the hens color.  When I received them 8 blue and 4 green - it was suppose to be 10 sky blue - they were barely tinted blue, pale dusty blue, nothing like the picture.  When I questioned her   she said "Egg color lightens as the laying cycle comes to an end. The eggs are a very nice blue in the Spring, as pictured. As for the green tinted, that's my beautiful back Kitsch hen - it is an accepted color per the Ameraucana Breeders Club. I thought I only sent 2 of those, I try not to send any but a lot of my girls are broody so numbers are down. Sorry you are disappointed. I am sure once they hatch you won't be. It's a beautiful flock of birds that I've worked on for years." Then I  replied  I would post pictures of the eggs I actually received, Second message was  "Apologies again. No one else has had a problem, I ship several dozen a week. I have pulled my ads down and am not selling on eBay anymore. My eggs lighten up like that every year, so do my marans. It's very common. Hopefully you do hatch them, they are lovely birds and my hatch rates have been awesome this year they had lightened up, "   I had Ameraucanas before and they never lighten up that much. So disappointed - I felt scammed.  I guess I have to order chicks from John Blehm again, I just don't need 25.

I got the same type of replies to my enquiries too. I do feel scammed. My last eBay hatch wasn't great. But I did get the 3 turkey poults out of it that I was hoping for. 50% on the turkeys. I feel that I should have a refund. On those eggs. If the air cells had been the correct size, the eggs not all porous with a small amount of dirt I would have been OK. But these were obviously fairly old, very porous and filthy. I can deal with the air cells being skew whiff. I treat shipped eggs like ICU patients. I have sold on eBay before and had a problem where a package wasn't delivered and I reimbursed the buyer immediately.

That is epic...
:lau

I only recently got my us citizenship. I used to be British.

Our first 3 eggs day - I think KC might be starting to lay.
This Chick i think might be the Araucuna.
Anyone know can tell if it is?
it is the only one that is very different from the others except for the Black one that I know is a BYC.

:lau Oh, wow! I had to laugh at myself!! I almost said 'No, that looks like a Polish or some kind of Silkie cross... then I realized you're in Oz... :D That looks like an Aussie Araucana to me... :)

Thank-you - now I know which one my Araucana is.
I worked out where my extra count came from - at the time i was saying 13 in the brooder there was only 12.
I now have 13 in the Brooder.
I have 2 pipped in the bator, and 3 left that will get egg-topisied if the don't cheep by the time the other 2 come out.

Video of Sebastian crowing will be added once it finishes uploading - i know someone wanted one her somewhere.

The silkies are obvious as they are the only bantams. I hope the Roo passed on the silkie feather gene, as its from a silkie hen, though not silkie itself
No Orpingtons hatched.
I'm not sure which the Dorkings are now.
If the Sussex come up with the frizzle i will be able to tell them then, not sure how to tell if the don't.
Everything else will be a BYC

So an american Araucana does not have the top hats like a silkie and polish do ?

Very welcome... looks like a Lavender too...

No, you have the British Araucana there... ours are rumpless with ear tufts and pea combs... they were created here in the States and I doubt they'll get imported to Oz since it's easier to break into Fort Knox than import any type of animal into Oz...

Our Ameraucanas are bearded and muffed...

My Lavender Ameraucana roo...
400

Lavender Ameraucana chicks...
400

This is one of my Araucana pullets, but she doesn't have the tufts...
400

While tufted is in the standard here, it's best we breed tufted to nontufted as 2 copies of tufted gene is leathal to the chick... the tufts grow inward instead of out and kill it before hatching...

I got the end of Dorian and Sebastian's crowing contest.
I think Dorian shut because he saw me. pity - Dorian crows better cause he doesn't have a volume limiter on at the minute.
